Sign of the times

 
The majority of residential towers in Abu Dhabi have huge advertising hoardings on top, turning them into instant recognisable landmarks (as well as fashionable addresses!) for taxi drivers, delivery vans and visitors. Here’s one of my favorites – The Rolex Building.

There ought to be a bylaw against these, but they do evoke the Emiratis' crass infatuation with status jewelry.
