Annual Camel Festival

Welcome to another mini-series of photographs. This time it’s from the recent 9-day annual Camel Festival in Zayed City in the Western Region (some 200 km from Abu Dhabi). Events included a camel beauty pageant, camel racing, camel auction, date contest, photographic competition, plus a handicrafts village. There were considerable prizes on offer ranging from cars to big money. Some 24,000 camels showed up for the event along with me and my camera.

Just when you think youve seen it all. 24000 Camels? And a camel beauty contest? The world is a big place after all.

Great photo! Looks like a calendar shot! I can't wait to see more. These animals have such interesting faces.
